People who live on Connecticut Avenue in Joplin got a look at the City of Joplin’s plans to widen that street at an open house Tuesday night (11/14). Joplin Public Works Director David Hertzberg tells News Talk KZRG the plan will take three years, starting with replacing the bridge that crosses Interstate 44.
“The actual MoDOT bridge, it’s going to be in construction in this coming year of ’18. And then, the year after in ’19, will be the intersection at 32nd and Connecticut.”
The intersection at 32nd and Connecticut will have an exclusive right turn lane for southbound drivers on to make a right turn on 32nd. And eastbound drivers on 32nd will have an exclusive right turn lane on to Connecticut. Hertzberg says the third step will be widening Connecticut from 32nd Street to the new bridge..and that will happen in 2020.
