Better Party Bites to Bring This 4th

Showing up to a Fourth of July party empty-handed? LAME! Showing up with a sad bag of chips? Somehow worse.

If you want to look like you have your life together, bring something that actually helps. Start easy: a little host gift. Flowers already in a vase, a chilled bottle of something bubbly, or even a handwritten note. The key is “thoughtful,” not “creates more work” for others.

Bringing food? Text first. Nobody needs three pasta salads and a confused host. Also, make it ready to go. If it requires oven space, a blender, or a TED Talk to assemble, leave it at home.

Safe bets: watermelon salad, a solid dip, baked beans, cookies, or a red-white-and-blue dessert that looks more impressive than it actually is.

Or skip food and bring fun—sparklers, a quick backyard game, or something nostalgic like Polaroid cameras.

Bottom line: bring something that makes the party easier, better, or just more fun.

Effort counts. Chips don’t.
