So here’s the deal for the 4th in Joplin… things kick off at 5:30 at Fred G. Hughes Stadium over at MSSU.
It’s the big one this year—the country’s turning 250, so they’re going a little extra. Think food trucks, bounce houses, and that “we stayed for the fireworks” level of commitment.
Live music starts at 7 with a 2000s rock cover band, which means you’ll probably hear at least one song you forgot you knew every word to. They’ll play right up until the fireworks around 9:45.
It’s free, parking’s easy, and yes—you can bring your snacks, chairs, blankets… basically your full “I plan to sit here awhile” setup.
Just leave the fireworks, alcohol, grills, pets, and anything that might get you a side-eye from security at home. Also, no stepping onto the football field—they’re serious about that turf.
Bottom line: show up, grab some food, pretend you don’t love that one 2000s song… and stay for the fireworks.
