Finding Savings For Summer Travel

Summer travel is starting to feel like a luxury sport… but it doesn’t have to wreck your wallet. A few smart moves can keep the trip—and your sanity—intact.

First, flights. Book it, then stalk it. If the price drops, you can usually snag a credit. Also—use your points now, not “someday.” They age like bananas, not wine. And forget that “book on a Tuesday at 2am” myth… prices care more about when you fly, not when you click.

Hotels? Loyalty programs are basically free money, so join them. And booking direct with the hotel can unlock better rates or perks. Bonus points if breakfast is included—because $18 eggs hurt more on vacation.

If you’re road-tripping, do a little math before you go. AAA’s gas calculator can tell you if driving actually beats flying. Then help your tank out: ease up on speed, don’t idle forever, and map your route so you’re not zig-zagging like you’re in a chase scene.

And one more thing—bundling flights, hotels, and cars can quietly shave off a chunk of the total. Not glamorous, but neither is overpaying.

Bottom line: travel’s pricier, sure… but with a little strategy, it’s still very doable—and way more fun than staying home scrolling other people’s vacations on your socials.
