How To Spring Clean Your Finances

Spring cleaning isn’t just for closets—your bank account might need a little attention too.

Financial advisors say start easy—set your savings on autopilot so you’re not relying on “good intentions.” Then go subscription hunting… because you’re probably still paying for something you forgot existed.

Pull your credit report, just to make sure nothing shady is lurking. And while you’re at it, start a little stash for summer—because vacations have a funny way of turning into credit card regret.

Check your emergency fund too. Ideally three to six months… but hey, even one month is better than crossing your fingers.

Before any big splurge, try the seven-day rule. If you still want it a week later, fine. If not, congrats—you just paid yourself instead.

Got a bonus or tax refund? Don’t let it disappear. Give it a job—save it, invest it, or knock down some debt.

And take five minutes to update beneficiaries and tweak your tax withholding… future you will be very impressed.

It’s not about doing everything—it’s about doing something. Little cleanups now, fewer messes later.
