The Joplin Police Department will be hosting one more free community pool party for the summer this Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm. It’s at Schifferdecker Aquatic Center over on West 4th and Schifferdecker, and yes, it’s open to every age that enjoys not melting in the summer sun.
They’re rolling out free hot dogs and drinks, parking some emergency vehicles where you can actually walk up and see them, and turning the pool into your personal chill zone for the afternoon. You can splash around, chat up Joplin officers when they’re not dodging pool noodles, and basically enjoy a summer evening that doesn’t cost you a dime.
The party’s backed by a whole crew of local do-gooders: Children’s Haven, the Salvation Army, the Alliance of Southwest Missouri, Project Kids, Walmart Neighborhood Market Joplin, plus the Joplin Fire and Health Departments. Translation: lots of folks teamed up so you can just show up, cool off, and call it quality family time without having to plan a thing.
