You ever wake up, scroll your phone, slam a sugary breakfast, and wonder why you’re already tired? Turns out, a neuroscientist says our mornings are kind of a brain sabotage mission. Basically, the first hour you’re awake makes or breaks your day.
First mistake—checking your phone right away. Apparently, your brain’s cortisol levels spike naturally when you wake up, but if you toss in Instagram doomscrolling, that spike turns into a cortisol fireworks show. Not ideal. Give it 45 minutes before you peek at your phone.
Next—get some sunlight. Real sunlight, not the glow from your fridge. Morning light helps reset your body clock and boosts your mood. Ten minutes outside does wonders.
Don’t jump straight into heavy work, either. Your brain’s still wiping the sleep out of its eyes. Give it a soft start—stretch, move, maybe grab some water.
Speaking of water—you need it. You wake up dehydrated, and your brain hates that. Drink a glass before coffee.
And skip the sugar bomb breakfast. That mid-morning crash? Totally optional. Go for some protein instead—it’ll keep your energy steady and brain happy.
Your brain’s just asking for a little kindness... and maybe fewer notifications before sunrise.
