So the internet really showed up for this "Heat Dome" dilemma we've been enduring… with a whole bunch of “life hacks.” Some helpful, some… not so much.
Like sleeping under a damp sheet. That can work—unless it’s humid, in which case you’re just marinating.
Then there’s the whole “smear yogurt on your windows” idea. The idea is to reflect heat, which—sure—but experts say now you’ve also got smell, bacteria, bugs, and a window you’re gonna regret.
Another one: hot drinks cool you down faster. Nope. Cold water wins. It actually makes you want to drink more—and bonus, it doesn’t dehydrate you like caffeine can.
Cooling your pulse points? Feels nice, but it’s more of a quick fix than a real cooldown.
Cold cabbage under your hat? Technically works… briefly… and now you smell like a gas leak.
And the fan-with-a-bowl-of-ice trick? It helps—for a minute—but it’s not exactly air conditioning.
So basically: drink cold water, avoid dairy-based home improvement projects, and maybe leave the cabbage in the fridge.
