Getting into a hot car in the summer is basically a gamble with the skin on your hands and the back of your thighs.
Good news: you can make it way less miserable without cranking the AC into panic mode. First move? Don’t hit recirculate right away. Crack the windows, turn the fan on, and let that oven air escape for a minute. Then go ahead and cool things down.
Park smart when you can—shade is your best friend, even if it’s just partial. A windshield shade helps a ton too, especially if you spring for a decent one. It’s the difference between “warm” and “why is everything trying to burn me?”
If you want bonus points, tint your windows—just make sure it’s legal where you live. And if your seats and steering wheel feel like stovetop burners, toss a towel or anything light-colored over them before you leave the car.
Also? Crack your windows just a bit. Not enough to invite trouble, just enough to let the hot air sneak out.
