60th Annual Maple Leaf Festival Schedule of Events
By Thom Watts·October 14, 2026
Carthage takes fall seriously. Most towns rake their leaves. But Carthage throws a weeklong party and attracts more than 100,000 visitors, which seems like a much better use of October.
The Maple Leaf Festival, which started as a marching band competition, grew into one of the region’s biggest celebrations.
It’s now a full week of activities, but the big finish is the nearly two-mile parade on Saturday at 9am. It starts at Historic Carthage Square, heads down Grand Avenue past those gorgeous old homes, and wraps up at Carthage Junior High.
And after the parade? Back to the Square for vendors, entertainment, and more reasons to put off whatever you were supposed to accomplish that day.
