Bouncy Castle Bandit Busted
By Thom Watts·October 14, 2026
Some people steal credit cards to snag diamonds, electronics, or designer handbags. Police say an Iowa woman decided to go with bounce houses.
Shanyce Hill allegedly used stolen credit card information to rent inflatables for Father’s Day and Fourth of July parties at an Iowa City park. She racked up about thirteen hundred fifty dollars in charges.
When cops asked, Hill denied ordering them. Trouble is, police say the rental records pointed to phone numbers and email accounts tied to her or her kids. She also rented the park space where the castle landed.
That’s less “criminal mastermind,” more “leave a breadcrumb trail and staple your name to it.”
Police also say she failed to return a rental generator. Guess the party needed power, and the case needed another loose end.
Police have declared "The Bouncy Castle Bandit" has been deflated. She’s facing theft and credit-card charges, and she’s out on $6,000 bond.
