Comedic Campaign Signs Help 'Unqualified' Man Win Election
By Thom Watts·October 21, 2026
Apparently, the secret to getting elected is admitting you’d rather be doing literally anything else.
Brady Rogers ran for city council in Kelowna, British Columbia, with signs saying, “I barely want to do this,” “Just trying to pay my rent,” and “How hard can it be?” Political ambition, next to zero.
His website? “Do I enjoy politics? No. Do I know what I’m doing? No. But am I qualified? Also no.”
And voters said: Hired.
Preliminary results put the 33-year-old fourth out of 37 candidates, with more than 12,000 votes, enough for a council seat, pending certification.
Now, the punchline has paperwork. Rogers says he’s serious about the job. He owns a small business and wants to tackle homelessness, housing costs, and helping other businesses survive.
Imagine that. A politician who admits he doesn’t have all the answers.
Usually, you have to elect them before that little secret crawls out.
