Druggie Takes Drugs To Drug Court

Everybody’s got something they can’t quit.

For Barry Bowser of Monticello, New York, apparently it was drugs… even while heading to court-ordered drug treatment. That’s not irony. That’s a flaming neon billboard of bad decisions.

Sheriff’s detectives intercepted Bowser at the courthouse while he was on probation from a previous drug case. A search turned up what amounted to a portable pop-up pharmacy, about 35 grams of heroin and fentanyl, crack cocaine, digital scales, and packaging material.

Bowser had previously dodged a possible 12-year prison sentence through a probation deal. Sheriff Mike Schiff says that deal is now off the table… along with Bowser’s chances of calling this a “minor setback.”

He’s now facing felony drug-possession and misdemeanor paraphernalia charges. Deputies also say they found an emaciated dog at his home, adding an animal-cruelty charge to the already ugly little résumé.

With three prior felony convictions, Bowser was hauled to the county jail with no bail.

Sometimes the road to recovery takes a wrong turn. This one apparently took the VERY scenic route.
