Dude OD’s, Then Gets TWO DUI’s…All In The Same Night
By Thom Watts·October 20, 2026
Most people get arrested for DWI and call it a night. One man in New Hampshire allegedly decided to double dip.
Police in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, say Michael Stiles was found unresponsive after someone called 911 to report an overdose. He needed Narcan to be revived.
Then, 30 minutes later, Stiles allegedly hit the road decided to skip the part where the cops pull you over, and crashed into a parked police cruiser, with an officer inside.
The officer wasn’t hurt. The cruiser needed a tow. And Michael? He got charged with DWI, reckless driving, and reckless conduct, then was released on personal recognizance bail.
Apparently, he mistook “released” for “reload.”
About three hours later, police encountered him at a towing company, where his car had been towed, and saw him going through his vehicle. He told the cops he had driven there in another car.
Same night. Different car. Another alleged DWI, plus a charge for violating bail.
This time, he was held without bail pending court.
And before blaming the cops for that first release: a court-appointed bail commissioner makes that decision to release Stiles.
All charges are allegations. But that’s a remarkably ugly itinerary for one evening.
