Flamingo-napping Felon Facing Four Years Behind Bars

Apparently, “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” unless you drink “30 to 40 beers” and make international news for flamingo kidnapping.

You may remember, in March, Canadian tourist Mitchell Fairbarn made “Stupid News” headlines when he knocked back 30 to 40 beers in 24 hours before stealing a flamingo from the Flamingo hotel.

Most people take shampoo. This guy took “Peachy” the Flamingo.

Fairarn then hauled the bird to his room to show his buddies, because apparently his good judgment had checked out long before he did.

His explanation? A “drunken, silly pranky joke.” No malicious intent.

Except surveillance showed him grabbing Peachy by the neck and wings. The bird ended up shaking, bleeding, and needing weeks of pain medication.

Thankfully, Peachy recovered. Fairbarn was convicted of animal cruelty and faces up to four years in prison on the felony count when he’s sentenced December first.

He wanted a story his friends would remember forever.
