Getaway Driver Ditches Criminal Cohort
By Thom Watts·October 19, 2026
A guy in Paramus, New Jersey allegedly spent part of his Friday morning stuffing 56 clothing items, worth nearly 2,200 bucks, into three rolling suitcases.
Police say he breezed past the registers like he owned the joint, then spotted officers closing in and made a break for it.
His escape plan? A green Dodge Charger waiting nearby.
Only one tiny wrinkle: the getaway driver apparently saw trouble, hit the gas, and left their guy standing there literally holding the bag. (Well… three bags.)
So the suspect bolted across the highway, slipped behind a Tesla dealership, tumbled down an embankment, and wound up in a creek, where police finally hauled him out of the drink.
He’s now facing theft, resisting arrest, and trespassing charges.
