Is It Bigfoot, Or Grandpa Skinny Dipping?
By Thom Watts·September 2, 2026
Bigfoot researchers in upstate New York have a new mystery on their hands: a blurry little figure spotted wading around a remote pond in Onondaga County.
They’re calling it the “Syracuse Figure,” which sounds either like a cryptid… or a guy who sells used snow tires.
The hiker who snapped the photos was apparently just taking scenic pond pictures when this thing — or gentleman — showed up in the water. Researchers say the witness seems credible, and the photos appear legit. The only problem: nobody knows what they’re looking at.
It’s estimated to be about four-foot-nine, and Bigfoot investigators say it doesn’t look quite human… but also doesn’t exactly scream Bigfoot. What looks like bare skin could, in theory, be wet, thinning fur.
Or, it could be somebody’s grandpa enjoying a very private, very chilly dip.
Investigators posted the photos hoping someone around Syracuse recognizes him… or it. Because apparently the truth is out there... possibly without pants.
