Jimmy Buffett Experience Opens This Fall
By thom·August 21, 2026
Jimmy Buffett may be gone, but the “Parrothead Empire” is still expanding.
Mobile, Alabama’s National Maritime Museum of the Gulf is opening a permanent 6,000-square-foot exhibit called Jimmy Buffett: Son of a Son of a Sailor Experience on September 12th. Basically, it’s a full-scale tribute to the man who convinced generations of people that every bad day could be improved with a boat drink.
The exhibit will have more than 130 pieces from Buffett’s life, including his 12-string Martin guitar, handwritten lyrics, personal photos, rare concert footage, and a recreation of his Key West recording studio, Shrimp Boat Sound. There’ll also be interviews with family, friends, bandmates, fishing buddies, boat builders—the whole sunburned extended universe.
And because subtlety was never really part of the Buffett lifestyle, a bronze statue of Jimmy will be unveiled outside the museum during opening weekend.
So, if you’ve been looking for a reason to head toward the coast and make questionable frozen-drink decisions… here it is.
