Rubber Mask Bank Robber Busted
By Thom Watts·October 30, 2026
Prosecutors say David Sartin Junior robbed two Florida banks wearing a realistic old-man mask, including gray facial hair, glasses, the whole grandpa starter kit.
The problem? He’d already gone to prison for five Texas bank robberies using a similar disguise. And authorities say he brought back the same getaway car. So, new chapter, very little character development.
Investigators say he biked between the banks and his car, then later spray-painted the car’s white roof black. A makeover. Not quite witness protection.
Searches allegedly turned up masks, a fake gun, clothes matching the disguises, and a journal titled, “God’s Best friend is a Bank Robber!”
That’s a pretty ambitious character reference.
Sartin was still on supervised release. Now he faces up to 20 years per robbery if convicted.
The old-man look might eventually require less makeup.
