Police in Damariscotta, Maine, got an unusually high number of calls about Bigfoot roaming around town. And honestly, when a large hairy creature is strolling down Main Street, you at least make the phone call.

Officers launched what they described as a lengthy, exhaustive, and completely serious investigation. Then Officer Smith found the elusive Sasquatch sitting peacefully on Main Street, had a chat with him, took some pictures… and determined Bigfoot was actually just a guy in a very convincing costume.

No crime. No mysterious grunts. No discovery that changes science forever. Just one extremely committed cryptid enthusiast taking a walk.

Police didn’t identify the man or explain the costume choice, which is probably for the best. Some mysteries should remain mysteries.
