Simple Daily Habits for Less Stress
By Thom Watts·September 17, 2026
If the second you wake up, your brain opens 47 tabs, including “everything you forgot yesterday,” try this before the day gets away from you.
First: stretch before you even leave the bed. Nothing that requires yoga pants or a personality transplant. Just reach long, pull your knees in, twist side to side, and take a couple of slow, deep breaths. Think of it as rebooting the human operating system.
Next, drink some water. You’ve gone all night without it, and starting the day dehydrated is apparently a great way to make stress feel like it has a VIP pass. Keep a glass by the bed and make it the first thing you reach for, not the phone.
Finally, give yourself a simple routine. Make the bed, wash your face, put on the workout clothes you laid out last night. Anything that eliminates one more morning decision.
And later, get outside, talk to somebody you like, and step away from the doom-scroll once in a while.
Tiny moves, but they can keep the stress of the day from beating you down.
