Suspect Lands In Dog House... Literally

An assault suspect in Michigan apparently took “lay low” a little too literally.

Deputies were called Wednesday evening after a man and woman were found with facial injuries. The woman also suffered a serious head wound from what police say was a blunt object. Investigators say the suspect had access to guns and had reportedly made homicidal and suicidal threats, so deputies locked down the neighborhood and told nearby residents to stay inside.

Then came the full law-enforcement buffet: a perimeter, repeated commands, an interior drone, an aerial drone, a Special Response Team, and K-9 units combing the area.

The house? Empty. The outbuildings? Empty. The neighborhood? No suspect.

But just before 11:30 that night, a Battle Creek police dog caught the scent, and led officers to the fugitive’s final hideout: a doghouse at a nearby home.

That’s right. After an all-evening manhunt with drones in the sky and cops on the ground, the alleged attacker was found curled up in the canine condo.

He was arrested without incident and is facing assault and resisting charges.

The good news: His cell will actually be a little larger. And he’ll be able to stand up inside it.
