Thirsty Chicagoans Haze Themselves

Chicago bar, Recess, was the location where 1,969 people simultaneously threw back shots of a famously bad-tasting local liqueur. 

A Chicago area mainstay since the 1930's, Jeppson's Malört is a bitter, wormwood-based Swedish schnapps which locals have been tricking tourists and those new to the city into drinking for decades.

One person at Sunday's event told Block Club Chicago the flavor is kind of "a mixture of vomit and sweat."

Delicious. 

The event also set a Guinness World Record for the largest number of people to simultaneously drink a shot of Malört.
