Why You Shouldn’t Reply “STOP” to Spam Texts Mid-America Hearing

Here’s a little life hack: don’t ever reply “STOP” to some random spam text. I know, it sounds polite—like, “Thanks, but please remove me from your nonsense.” But really, all you’ve done is confirm that, yep, this number belongs to a breathing human. And once the spammers know that? Congrats—you’re now on their VIP list of “people to bother forever.”

Now, if it’s your doctor, bank, or your kid’s school, sure, “STOP” away. They’ll actually honor it. But if the message feels sketchy—selling crypto, miracle gummies, or “urgent” sweepstakes winnings—don’t reply at all. Just block them and move on with your life.

On iPhone or Android, you can tap the message, hit the number, and block them in seconds. Or get fancy and turn on text filtering to shunt unknown senders straight into purgatory.

Bottom line: If it smells spammy, don’t talk to it. Just block, breathe, and carry on.
