In a Stupid News follow up…the kitten who got dragged into an attempted bank robbery has officially left her life of crime behind.
Three-month-old Magnolia, a panda-colored kitten with absolutely no criminal record, despite what the internet may suggest, was snatched from a Pet Supplies Plus in Beltsville, Maryland, on July 13.
The guy who took her then ran to the PNC Bank in the same shopping center, walked up to an employee, handed over the kitten and said, “Can you hold this?” Then he passed a teller a note demanding cash.
Bold strategy. Not exactly smart, but bold.
Police caught up with him pretty quickly. Apparently, he had been visiting the pet store nearly every day for weeks and always made a beeline for Magnolia. So, maybe not the master criminal he imagined himself to be.
Luckily, Magnolia was safe, and her brief criminal résumé made her something of a celebrity. Beltsville Community Cats received 21 adoption applications after the story went viral.
She’s now got a "furever" home with two new parents and another kitten to hang out with. Magnolia insists she’s innocent, although rescue volunteers say the internet remains divided on whether she was the mastermind.
