So there’s a viral Yellowstone video that’s equal parts “whoa” and “nope.” (Check it out in the link below.) A bull bison decided it had absolutely had it… chased down and launched a grandpa into the air like a rag doll.
The guy was walking with his grandson, keeping what seemed like a respectful distance, when the bison suddenly chose chaos. Grandpa tries the classic “duck behind trees and serpentine your way out of it” move… which works great in movies. Less so against a 2,000-pound tank with horns.
The bison catches up, hooks him, and just… sends him. Full rag doll. About eight feet straight up before gravity reminds everyone how this ends.
Here’s the wild part: nobody was messing with the animal. Earlier, it had wandered into a campsite and gotten a little too interested in some kids taking photos from way back. So this wasn’t “tourists being dumb,” it was more “nature doing whatever it wants.”
Witnesses rushed in, scared the bison off, and called for help. One guy even joked with the grandpa—apparently a former paratrooper—that he’d “give the landing a 9.5.” Grandpa, without missing a beat, said five years ago he could’ve stuck it better. Honestly, respect.
He broke his leg and needed surgery, but he’s expected to recover. Which is great… and also a solid reminder that in nature that wild means wild.
And, in Yellowstone bison makes the rules.
