Two Florida men allegedly turned a dispute over an ex-girlfriend into a showdown involving a hatchet, a machete, and what I can only assume was a very confused grocery list.
Police say Everette Krichbaum was sitting in his car when James Gay approached him. Words were exchanged, Krichbaum allegedly pulled a hatchet, and Gay reportedly went back to his vehicle and returned with a machete.
Gay allegedly hit Krichbaum in the face with the machete while it was still sheathed. Then came a struggle over both weapons, leaving both men with injuries to their hands.
They were treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, and both later faced aggravated-battery charges.
So, just a reminder: if an old relationship gets messy, maybe don’t settle it in the grocery store parking lot with hardware-store cosplay.
