Not So Grand Theft

Apparently, practice does not make perfect — at least not when it comes to robbing banks. In the Dollar Tree version of "Oceans Eleven," Gustavo DeJesus Torres, tried to rob six Chase branches in five days… and ended up with a grand total of six hundred and five bucks. That’s right — six robberies, five boroughs, and enough cash for maybe a week’s groceries.

His technique? The old note-to-the-teller move — “Give me the money or people get hurt.” No weapon, just a note. He got $320 from one bank, $265 from another, and twenty bucks — twenty! — from a Harlem location. The other three? Total busts. Walked out empty-handed.

Cops say he’s hit the same bank chain before, so maybe he’s just really, really committed to Chase. One photo even shows him between heists — on the subway platform, sipping coffee, looking like a guy who’s late for the train and questioning his life choices. Police are still looking for him, which I assume gives him time to think about new career paths.
