Florida Freeze Means Iguana Pizza

Florida Freeze Means Iguana Pizza Liberty Tree

So, you know how Florida does winter — one day it’s paradise, next day iguanas are falling out of trees like it’s raining lizards. Well, a restaurant in North Palm Beach decided to turn that weirdness into dinner.

Local iguana trapper Ryan Izquierdo scooped up a few of the frozen freeloaders, cleaned them up, and teamed up with Bucks Coal Fired to make “Iguana Pizza.” They’re calling it “The Everglades,” which somehow sounds both fancy and mildly threatening.

Ryan swears the meat tastes like frog legs — a little sweet, a little wild — and honestly, he looks way too happy about it. The pizza itself is a solid lineup: olive oil, parmesan, ranch, bacon, venison, and yes, chunks of iguana tail and leg. Because why stop at one animal when you can have four?

When they pulled it out of the oven, the chef’s first reaction was basically, “That looks crazy.” Ryan took a bite, looked shocked, and called it “unbelievable.” And hey, he’s even tried iguana omelets.

So yeah, Florida managed to turn a cold snap into a new food trend. Only in the Sunshine State could falling reptiles turn into fine dining.
