SWAT Truck Taken For Joyride

So this guy in New Jersey wakes up early Tuesday morning and thinks, “You know what I should steal? Not a Kia… not a Hyundai… no, let’s aim higher.” And by higher, we’re talking a $500,000 armored SWAT vehicle.
Yeah, he took a BearCat. One of those massive, nine-ton, not-even-slightly-subtle police tanks meant for, you know, hostage situations and active shooters. Not exactly your everyday getaway car.
He manages to bust it out of the police garage—doing about $13,000 in damage on the way out, which feels on-brand—and just… goes for a joyride.
Cops didn’t say how they tracked him down, but we’re guessing it wasn’t exactly a mystery. It’s a giant armored truck. Kinda stands out.
They found it about 20 minutes away, abandoned, and later arrested the guy responsible. He’s now facing a nice little list of charges… which is probably what happens when your criminal plan involves stealing the most recognizable vehicle on the road.
