A driver in Wisconsin saw a big ol’ “road closed” sign… decided it was more of a suggestion, and actually got out, moved the barricade, and kept right on driving at an interchange near Milwaukee.
Problem is, the road wasn’t just closed… it was freshly poured concrete. And, you guessed it, the pickup sank right in. Wheels deep.
The Department of Transportation took to social media and basically said, “Hey, those signs are there for a reason,” which feels like the most polite way to say, “what were you thinking?”
Crews and police had to haul the truck out with heavy equipment, and honestly, that tow bill is probably the least painful part of this story.
Moral of it? If you ever feel tempted to ignore a road closed sign… just remember: concrete cures, but embarrassment lasts forever.
