A guy in Irvine, California strolls into a gas station and demands $55 worth of free gas. Not a discount, not a coupon — FREE gas. Then he just... waits. Like the universe is about to bless him for saving money that, apparently, isn’t real.
When cops show up, he explains that he “sincerely believes money as a unit of payment isn’t real.” Which, bold move… but try telling that to your landlord.
The officers, now playing part-time philosophers, spent a while trying to talk him out of his existential crisis before finally arresting him. The department even posted the bodycam video, praising their “expert patience and negotiation skills.”
To summarize, in California, gas is expensive. But apparently, enlightenment costs a lot more.
