A "pickled pensioner" in North Port, Florida, decided his golf cart was the perfect getaway car after “partying at the club” since noon. It was nine at night. His wife fell out of the cart on the way home, hit her head, and he called 911 ... which was the smartest thing he did all day.
When cops showed up, they noticed the golf cart was basically a mini‑bar on wheels. The driver, James Prante, blew a 0.197, a double bogey on the breathalyzer… more than twice the legal limit. Turns out, driving anything after drinking — yes, even a golf cart — is still a DUI in the "Sunshine State."
Officials remind everyone — if it’s got wheels and you’ve got a buzz, don’t drive it. Not even a golf cart.
His wife was taken to the hospital and, thankfully, she’s stable. James, however, is facing DUI charges and probably a lifetime of hearing the phrases, “I told you so." and "It's just common sense.”
