Dude Sells Cars on Facebook, Then Steals Them Back to Sell Again

A guy in Kansas City figured out a genius new business model: sell a car, steal it back, and sell it again. He managed to pull it off eight times before things went sideways.

His name’s Mamadou Diallo. Between May and June last year, he sold the same Honda Civic and Buick Verano over and over on Facebook Marketplace. Each buyer paid cash, got what looked like a real title—and then, poof—their car vanished the next day.

His downfall? He tried to sell the same car to the same woman twice. She spotted it online again, set up a sting using a different account, and even caught security footage of him sneaking back at 1 a.m. to “repossess” his inventory. Gutsy, if nothing else.

Now he’s facing 14 felonies and up to 98 years in prison for basically turning Facebook Marketplace into a revolving‑door car lot. Moral of the story? If it sounds too good to be true, check the VIN. Or, you know, maybe meet at a police station.
