Search For Monkeys In St. Louis Hampered by Fake AI Posts

There are monkeys on the loose in St. Louis. They were first spotted hanging around O’Fallon Park last week, just living their best life in "The Lou." Nobody knows where they came from, but since owning exotic animals is illegal in the city, someone out there is probably sweating right now.

The St. Louis Zoo says they’re vervet monkeys...cute, clever, and originally from Africa. Officials say there’s more than one, maybe four, depending on who you ask and how good their eyesight is.

Now here’s where it gets fun: people online are posting fake AI photos claiming they’ve caught the monkeys. The Health Department’s like, “Yeah, it’s hard to tell what’s real anymore.” No one seems to mean harm—they’re just having fun—but it’s not exactly helping catch the little escape artists.

For now, animal control and zoo experts are still trying to wrangle them. The public’s been told not to play jungle explorer, just call it in if you see one. Because as adorable as they look, stressed monkeys don’t do selfies.
